Considering Russia as a potential market for tourism development, Vietnam’s tourism industry has attended many tourism fairs and exhibitions in Russia over the past years. A Vietnamese delegation led by Hoang Anh Tuan, Director of the Vietnam Administration of Tourism, is currently in the country to take part in the second International Tourism Fair and Exhibition, which opened in Moscow on March 18.

The 2nd International Tourism Fair and Exhibition, covering an area of 23,000 sq.m, attracted more than 800 travel agents and companies from 75 territories in Russia as well as from 50 countries in the world.

Director of the Vietnam Administration of Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh said the fair provides a chance for Vietnam to promote its potential for tourism development, to call for Russian and international tourists to visit Vietnam, and to work with Russian tourism agencies to boost tourism development.

Taking part in the Tourism Fair and Exhibition for the first time, Vietnam held a big press conference to introduce Vietnam’s potential for tourism and the country’s policies in tourism cooperation and development. The press conference drew much attention from Russian and international travel agents.

Liobov Ruxanovna, director of International Tourism of Prov-real Travel Agent, said she has been to Vietnam to explore tourism potential in the country. She said Vietnam has a lot of magnificent beaches and beautiful landscapes and, in particular, Vietnamese people are so open, friendly and hospitable. She added that Vietnam should further improve its tourism environment to attract more tourists.

Currently, the number of Russian tourists traveling to Vietnam stands at just 30,000 people per year, while the number traveling to Thailand and Singapore amounts to hundreds of thousands.

As Russia’s demand for tourism is increasing, Vietnam needs to improve its tourism environment to attract more Russian tourists.
