Royal College of Surgeons honours two Vietnamese doctors
VOV.VN - Two Vietnamese doctors have been granted honourary membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS), a milestone that highlights Vietnam’s growing presence on the global medical stage.
The recipients are Dr. Do Thi Ngoc Linh, a plastic surgeon at Viet Duc University Hospital, and Dr. Le Diep Linh, deputy head of the Centre for Craniofacial and Plastic Surgery at the 108 Military Hospital.
At the awards ceremony recently held in London, Katrin Kandel, volunteer CEO of Facing The World (FTW) - an organisation that connects Vietnamese hospitals and doctors with the RCS - praised the doctors’ outstanding leadership, surgical expertise, and dedication to advancing care in plastic and craniofacial surgery. She noted that the recognition represents a significant milestone in Vietnam-UK cooperation in surgery and humanitarian care.
According to Dr. Le Diep Linh, the awarding of RCS certificates to Vietnamese surgeons demonstrates that Vietnamese surgical standards now meet international benchmarks. The achievement will enhance treatment quality in Vietnam, promote academic and research collaboration with leading medical centres worldwide, and inspire younger doctors to pursue higher professional standards.
The Royal College of Surgeons, one of the world’s leading institutions for surgical and dental training, assessment, and accreditation, was established over two centuries ago to advance surgical practice, education, and patient care. Its membership is globally recognised as a hallmark of professional achievement, while honourary membership is reserved for individuals who have made exceptional contributions to surgery and medicine.
