RoK tightens controls on illegal workers

(VOV) - The Korean Ministry of Justice has officially launched a number of drastic measures to reduce the numbers of foreigners residing illegally in the country.

The Republic of Korea (RoK) has commenced the widespread deployment of a voluntary home return registration program for illegal foreigner residence.

According to the Korean Ministry of Justice, around 26,340 Vietnamese people illegally residing in the country can sign in for voluntary home return and be exempted from paying fines and temporary detention.

They can make home return procedures with their valid passports and air tickets at all Korean international airports.

The Korean Government also reported that illegal residents voluntarily return home will be considered for shortening the time of re-entry ban to Korea to two years.

The arrestees will be fined, deported and banned from re-entering Korea within a maximum of 10 years.
