The Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation on Social Order (C14B), under the Ministry of Public Security, announced on July 6 that the 50-year-old offender was wanted for robbing a shop owner at knife point of jewellery valued at US$300,000 at a gold shop in Seoul.

After the crime, he was able to flee to Vietnam on May 6. He then rented a house in Ho Chi Minh City’s Binh Chanh district

RoK Interpol released a notice that Pyeon O Man was wanted on June 16, 2009.

On June 24, the RoK General Consul in Ho Chi Minh City sent a diplomatic memorandum asking the Vietnamese police to arrest Pyeon O Man.

On July 2, the Korean was arrested by C14B police t an internet cafe in Tan Binh district.

Pyeon O Man is in temporary detention and will be handed over to the RoK police at the earliest time.
