According to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Vietnam now has some 5-8 million people with disability including Agent Orange/dioxin victims who are in need of support.

Representatives from the Office of the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation (VVAF) and the Office of Steering Board 33 in charge of overcoming the consequences of toxic chemicals used by the US military during the  war in Vietnam met in Hanoi for the first time on October 17.


During the meeting, they analysed the contents of dioxin and pollution level in some key southern areas and  devised solutions including conducting scientific studies of toxic chemical exposure consequences, applying advanced technologies to detoxify harmful chemicals and mitigating the harmful effects of toxic chemical pollution on human beings.


The participants also proposed launching humanitarian programs in support of AO/dioxin victims in 11 provinces and cities.
