Remains of Vietnamese soldiers killed in Laos return home
VOV.VN - The remains of 21 Vietnamese soldiers killed in Laos during the revolutionary war were received Wednesday (May 17) at the National Cemetery in the province of Quang Tri with the usual full military honours.
They were able to come home from Laos thanks to years of diplomatic negotiations and detective work by scientists and historians of both countries, said officials at a solemn funeral ceremony.
The recovery effort has continued at a steady pace, said the officials, who said there are as many as 1,000 sites that still await investigation. This represents the 31st time remains have been returned since 1993.
