At present, ornamental fish come in various species, each with its own features, colours, and associated symbolism so that keepers can buy any breed to suit their tastes. Among the species, rong fish with the two colours of yellow and red is much sought after since it is believed to bring about great fortunes, happiness, prosperity and longevity while dia fish is preferred by youths as it can swim quickly and is easy to feed. Other breeds like ca hong, ca co, ca vang, etc., are also widely available in big cities.

To create a lively aquarium with colourful fish, keepers must take care of fish daily by maintaining a clean environment, using light and water pump systems and marine flora and fauna.

Aquaria are believed to bring about fresh air to living and working spaces and help people feel close to nature. Therefore, ornamental fish raising has burgeoned in recent years with many clubs such as Viet Nhat and Thien Duong Ornamental Clubs, where enthusiasts can hold ornamental fish competitions or share their experience and knowledge in ornamental fish raising.

In addition, such industries as aquaria and accessories production and fish pharmaceuticals have blossomed in recent years, making it easier for keepers to raise ornamental fish. 

“Though very interesting, ornamental fish raising requires high creativity from each keeper. I like the hobby because it promotes any relaxation after each working day,” said Vuong Nhat, an architect who has worked for 20 years in Viet Nhat Aquatic Creature Company.

In such modern times, an aquarium is necessary not only for decorating houses, workplaces or restaurants, but also helping people relax after a hard working day.
