Some of the specific aims of the action month involve building bridges to make it more accessible for ethnic children to go to school and providing free screening and surgeries for children suffering from heart defects and cleft palate.
During the launching ceremony, 25 bicycles and 20 scholarships were granted to students in the mountainous districts of Dam Ha and Binh Lieu.
Representatives from businesses, local departments, and agencies also raised nearly VND3.7 billion for the Quang Ninh Children Protection Fund.
Vu Yen Thuc, head of the Department of Child Care and Protection under the provincial department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, said the agency has launched a range of activities to help ethnic and poor children recently.
In line with the efforts, the department of child care and protection has presented gifts and provided training courses for children, their families, and the wider community.
In June, the department plans to continue connecting benefactors in order bring equal development opportunities to ethnic minority children.
