Quang Ninh installs floating bridge linking with Chinese city

The closure segment of a temporary floating bridge over the Ka Long border river was installed on October 16, connecting northern Quang Ninh’s Mong Cai city and Dongxing city of China.

The project started on January 19 with total investment of nearly VND160 billion. The 114m-long and 12m-wide bridge has two lanes for vehicles and a load capacity of 60 tonnes.

The floating bridge is expected boost import-export activities between the two border cities and minimise the weather impact on goods transport. It will reduce cost of transportation and enhance the competitiveness of the pair of Mong Cai-Dongxing border gates, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of the two localities.

The floating bridge, the first of its connecting the two cities, is scheduled to become operational in late October.
