Quang Ninh coal mine accident leaves 3 dead, 2 injured

VOV.VN - A gas-related incident occurred at a coal mine in northern Quang Ninh province on September 28, leaving three dead and two injured.

The incident occurred at 10:35 a.m. at the Duong Huy Coal Company mine in Mong Duong ward, injuring two workers and trapping three employees from the Tunneling Workshop 3.

The miners were working on the mine’s tunnel project for Duong Huy Coal Company.

Two hours after the incident, rescue teams located and evacuated the two injured workers to the Quang Ninh General Hospital. By 1:30 p.m., the remaining three workers were found but were confirmed dead.

Hearing about the news, Bui Van Khang, Chairman of the Quang Ninh People’s Committee, visited the hospital to check on and encourage the two injured workers. Both are now in stable condition and are receiving treatment and monitoring in the Trauma Department.

The provincial chairman instructed the mining company to quickly stabilise operations, ensure workplace safety, and maintain the trust of miners and their families.

He also requested authorities to urgently investigate and determine the cause of the accident. Quang Ninh province will provide an initial support of VND25 million per deceased worker.
