Public campaign to care for social beneficiaries launched

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs have launched a 3-month movement to care for veterans and martyrs relatives leading up to Vietnam Day for Invalids and War Martyrs on July 27.

Vietnam Fatherland Front  VFF President Nguyen Thien Nhan said joining the Party and State in caring for social beneficiaries is a glorious mission of Vietnamese families.

“Organizations, agencies and households should take a practical action to care for invalids and families of war martyrs. Especially, we should provide wheelchairs for invalids, employment opportunities for children of martyrs, repair and construction of houses for social beneficiaries and victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin," Nhan said.

Minister Dao Ngoc Dung underlined the need for organisations and individuals to get involved in supporting war invalids, families of martyrs and Agent Orange/dioxin victims in order to improve their living conditions.

It is imperative to step up communications to raise public awareness of the work, Dung said, suggesting expanding the movement “all people take care of war invalids, martyrs’ families and people who rendered service to the nation” and encouraging policy beneficiaries to take part in socio-economic development activities.

Immediately after the launching ceremony on April 27, more than 50 organisations, businesses and individuals donated a total of VND3.8 billion to help policy beneficiaries.
