The General Department of Vocational Training under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) held a seminar in Hanoi on June 1 to discuss the implementation of the Prime Minister’s instructions on raising the proportion of skilled workers to 50 percent by 2010.

The Prime Minister has directed the department to complete the vocational training system, improve the quality of training, correlate vocational training to the needs of the labour market, and pay attention to practice with the aim of raising the proportion of skilled workers to 50 percent by 2010 (instead of 32 percent as planned). The Government will spend US$1 billion from the State budget on vocational training, job generation and labour export.

To fulfill the Prime Minister’s objective, the MoLISA in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee is building projects to renovate and develop vocational training by 2010 and towards 2020, and support youth in training and looking for jobs with loans from the State budget.
