Health Minister Nguyen Quoc Trieu on April 19 cut the ribbon to a new dormitory for the relatives of poor patients being treated at Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi.

On the occasion, State President Nguyen Minh Triet sent a letter praising the Health Ministry’s initiative saying that it is a real help to poor patients.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Trieu said that the project was a charitable activity and an excellent model for other hospitals in the country to follow.

The project was built at a cost of over VND4 billion (US$235,000) and funded by Vingroup. It has eight large dormitories with a total of 300 bunk beds and shared toilets. Each bed costs VND15,000 (US$0.8) per night.
