A wide range of activities have been held in many countries to mark the 117th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday (May 19).

In Havana, Cuba, floral wreaths were laid by representatives from the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba at the monument to President Ho in a park named after the late Vietnamese President on May 18.

In Paris, France, on May 19, the Vietnamese Embassy’s staff offered incense to the President, then paid floral tributes to the house No. 9 in Compoint alley, where Uncle Ho lived during the 1921-1923 period, and to his monument in Montreau park in Montreuil city. They also visited the Ho Chi Minh space in Montreuil city’s historic museum. Local authorities, including Montreuil Mayor Jean Pierre Bra, joined the delegation.

Overseas Vietnamese workers in France also held a meeting to celebrate President Ho’s birthday on May 20.

In the UK, the Vietnamese Embassy’s staff and overseas Vietnamese laid flowers at the commemorative plaque to President Ho at the New Zealand House of the New Zealand Embassy in London. The New Zealand House was built on the ground of the Carlton Hotel, where Uncle Ho worked in 1913.
