Da Nang was the hardest hit locality in the central region with 26 people killed, one missing, thousands of houses destroyed or damaged. Joint forces are making every effort to resume normal services.

Early in the morning, workers of the Municipal Environment and Utility Works Company are busy with delivery tricycles and an ever-expanding workload. Ads companies are replacing almost all advertisement boards completely destroyed on

About 80 percent of the households in the city have now been re-supplied with water, but with limited amount due to low pressure. Utility crews have worked around the clock to restore the power system in the city. To date, nearly 90 percent of the urban area has got access to electricity.

Special means of transport have been mobilised to help collect rubbish with terrible smell. Engineering Construction Company 545 is responsible for vehicles, the Municipal Environment and Utility Works Company collects rubbish, and traffic inspectors control traffic flows, with top priority given to special means on street.

After the typhoon, local people are in dire need of roofing to repair their damaged houses. Although roofing prices increased by VND10,000/metre, the city has still run short of the material. Roofing workshops have worked at full capacity, but not met the increasing demand.

Cleanup efforts are under way. About 20 percent of State agencies have resumed operation. Schools have not been yet reopened. Almost all production establishments at industrial parks have not been able to start operation again due to severe damage.
