On the evening of February 8, a representative of the department said its unit responsible for preventing and investigating social order-related crimes had applied operational measures to verify information, collect evidence and establish a case to break up the network.

Investigators identified a group suspected of organizing and participating in online gambling activities across multiple provinces and cities nationwide, directly managed by Nguyen Viet Duy (born in 1989, resident in Ho Chi Minh City).

From December 2024 until the ring was uncovered, Duy and several accomplices allegedly coordinated the use of bookmaker agent accounts, splitting and assigning them to players for football betting.

The group is accused of earning illegal profits from wagers placed on matches across various football competitions.

According to statements, settlements of betting wins and losses were conducted every Monday, either in cash or via bank transfers through multiple accounts.

Preliminary findings indicate that between September 2025 and January 2026, the total number of betting points used across the accounts reached around 30 million points, equivalent to approximately VND900 billion.

To date, the Criminal Police Department has initiated criminal proceedings and charged 19 accused people, with investigations continuing in accordance with the law.

The operation has contributed to maintaining public order and serves as a warning against organizing online gambling activities.
