PM to discuss youth role in entrepreneurship, innovation and job creation
VOV.VN - The Prime Minister is set to hold a direct dialogue with nearly 300 young representatives in Hanoi on October 15, focusing on entrepreneurship, innovation, skills development and employment as Vietnam seeks new drivers of growth.
The 2026 dialogue comes as Vietnam seeks to make policies for young people more responsive to changes in the labour market and the emergence of new industries.
A key focus will be reviewing the implementation of policies and legislation related to employment, entrepreneurship, innovation, training and human resource development, alongside identifying obstacles and gaps that require policy adjustments.
Skills development will be an important part of the discussion. The agenda covers training in digital and technology skills, foreign languages and the ability to adapt to changing labour-market requirements.
The discussions will also address ways to strengthen young people’s professional capabilities, productivity and work efficiency so they can meet the demands of new industries and the digital economy.
This places greater emphasis on the connection between education, vocational training and actual labour-market needs, particularly as technological change reshapes the skills required by businesses.
Another focus will be the mechanisms available to young people seeking vocational training, employment or opportunities to start their own businesses.
The programme will examine access to labour-market information, vocational training, jobs and self-employment, as well as capital, credit, land, science and technology.
Technology and innovation will also feature prominently, with discussions covering support for research, development, application and technology transfer, alongside digital transformation and the use of artificial intelligence in production and business.
Support for youth-led start-up models and projects will form part of this agenda, together with measures to create a more favourable environment for young people to develop businesses, cooperatives, household businesses and other emerging economic models.
The programme will also explore ways to encourage young people to expand production and business activities and participate more deeply in domestic and international value chains and supply chains.
The dialogue will be attended by representatives of ministries and agencies, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Vietnam Youth Federation and its member organidations, and the Vietnam Students’ Association.
