The Prime Minister has sent an urgent message to relevant ministries and sectors, provincial and municipal People’s Committees, the Central Rescue and Research Committee and the National Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Control and Prevention, calling on them to brace themselves for storm Chebi.
The message warned that Chebi is a strong and unpredictable storm. Therefore, ministries, sectors and localities need to keep a close watch on its new developments to devise emergency plans and mobilise possible means to cope with the tropical storm.
According to the National Hydro-Meteorology Forecasting Centre, at 16:00 on November 13 the centre of storm Chebi was situated at 16.1 0 N latitude and 113.0 0 E longitude, 520 km east southeast from the coastal areas of Quang Ngai and Thua Thien Hue. The wind forces near its centre were measured up to category 9 (75-88 km per hour).
The storm will continue moving west and northwest at a speed of 10-15 km per hour within the next 24 hours and will weaken slightly, according to the National Hydro-Meteorology Forecasting Centre.
On the morning of November 14, there will be strong wind and rough seas in the coastal area from Quang Nam-Da Nang to Quang Binh. Winds will remain at around category 6-7 even gusting up to category 8 near the storm centre.
