Ms Khanna was honoured for her contributions to the education, care and protection of Vietnamese children during her term in Vietnam.

Since January 2003, she has helped develop the partnership between Vietnamese child welfare agencies and international organizations and donors.

Plan Vietnam has expanded its projects’ coverage from 80 communes in 2003 to 150 communes in 2006, and has raised its aid from close to US$30 million in the 1993-2003 period to US$10 million per year from 2004.

During the 2005-2010 period, Plan Vietnam will spend nearly US$45 million protecting children, giving them comprehensive care and high-quality education, and spreading community-based health care services.
