Plan approved for two specialized schools toward international standards

VOV.VN - The Hanoi People’s Committee has approved a plan to develop Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted and Chu Van An High School for the Gifted into specialized schools approaching international standards.

Under the plan, the model for Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted is built around four groups of criteria: students’ academic performance and scientific research capacity; the level of STEM/STEAM integration; foreign-language proficiency and international academic integration; and quality assurance and verification systems.

The model aims to develop the school into a national center for nurturing talent with graduate outcomes equivalent to internationally recognized diplomas and certificates, while training future scientists and leaders in the knowledge economy era.

The implementation roadmap for Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted will be divided into three phases. The first phase from 2026-2027 will focus on preparation, launch and pilot implementation. The second phase from 2027-2030 will involve full-scale implementation and completion of required conditions, while the 2030-2035 phase will focus on refining the model and improving quality.

Meanwhile, the model for Chu Van An High School for the Gifted, developed by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, will also follow a phased roadmap to ensure conditions are in place for the first intake under the new model in the 2026-2027 academic year.

The school will continue improving facilities, curricula and teaching staff in subsequent phases. By the 2028-2029 academic year, the entire school is expected to operate under a specialized-school model approaching international standards with 60 classes, including 20 classes at each grade level.

Each grade level will include four classes offering in-depth integrated academic programs in mathematics, physics and chemistry.

The project is designed to develop Chu Van An High School for the Gifted into a specialized school of the capital city with education quality approaching international standards, serving as a center for academic activities, research and innovation at the upper-secondary level.

The school is expected to train students with outstanding academic abilities, good personal qualities, creativity and a strong ability to integrate internationally.

Chu Van An High School for the Gifted is also expected to build a modern governance system, a high-quality teaching staff, comprehensive facilities, a smart learning environment and comprehensive quality assurance mechanisms. The project also outlines strategic directions and measures related to educational programs, teaching staff, school governance and digital transformation.

By 2035, the school is striving to fully meet key benchmarks including internationally recognized graduate outcomes, an academic environment capable of accommodating international students, highly qualified teachers able to teach to international standards, and modern facilities supporting learning and research.
