More than 10,000 people joined a walk in Ho Chi Minh City on August 9 in support of Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange and poor people  with disabilities.

Participants walked along Le Duan, Dong Khoi and Ly Tu Trong streets and raised nearly VND4 billion for the beneficiaries.

The walk is part of a week-long campaign for AO victims launched by HCM City Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin. The week includes a photo exhibition, a folded paper star competition and an online composition contest.

A special music programme to honour philanthropists will be held at the Municipal Theatre on August 10. Three paintings will also be auctioned to raise funds for the victims.

The proceeds will be used to build compassionate houses, present scholarships and help the victims develop household economies. Part of the money will be used to build a rehabilitation centre and a vocational training school for those affected by the toxins.
