Health Minister Nguyen Quoc Trieu has agreed to mobilise 20 more southern provinces to carry out PCR test for A/H1N1 virus before sending the tested samples to the Pasteur Institute for final results.

While checking A/H1N1 flu control in Pasteur Institute and Tropical Disease Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City on July 18, minister Trieu also emphasized that the health care sector should increase human power and material source to curb the pandemic, which is predict to develop fast in winter.

From May 30-July 7, Pasteur Institute tested 1,473 H1N1 virus suspected samples, defining 218 detected cases, according to head of the institute Tran Ngoc Huu.

The health ministry has approved VND51 billion for a biological safety room in Pasteur Institute.

Meanwhile Director of Tropical Disease Hospital Nguyen Tran Chinh proposed the ministry import new medicines in anticipation of anti-Tamiflu patients.
