Party, State heed caring for ex-youth volunteers: PM
The Party and State always pay attention to the implementation of policies towards former youth volunteers, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed on August 22.

At a working session with the Ex-Youth Volunteers’ Association in Hanoi, the Government leader said the monthly allowance for former youth volunteers has been raised from VND360,000 to VND540,000 since January 1, 2016.
The PM has also given a nod to the compilation of documents on the support of southern ex-youth volunteers who took part in the resistance war during the 1965-1975 period, he stressed.
He noted that the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has been assigned to handle pending dossiers of ex-youth volunteers who are subject to social allowances in five pilot provinces by 2017.
The PM has also asked the Ministries of Natural Resources and Environment, and National Defence to review the list of Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin victims in localities.
According to the Ex-Youth Volunteers’ Association, up to 861 ex-youth volunteers who laid down their lives for the nation have yet to be recognised as martyrs; 8,731 have not yet been recognised as war invalids; and 11,108 others and 1,636 children who contracted the chemical toxin from their parents have not received social allowances.
