Pagodas overflowing on first days of New Year

VOV.VN - Temples and Buddhist pagodas in Hanoi are near to overflowing on the first days of the TET holiday as faithful pray for safety, health, good luck, prosperity and happiness during the Year of the Rooster. 

Altars are piled high with offerings and interiors are thick with incense.

On the roads near temples and Buddhist pagodas such as Tran Quoc and Van Mieu one can see enormous crowds of devotees returning from offering prayers.

In the places of worship, they carry ornate rods of smoking incense, flowers, fruit and other blessings for the gods who watch over their existence.

Another destination attracting huge crowds is Van Mieu Temple, the first university of Vietnam.
