OVs in France and Ukraine welcome Tet
(VOV) - A large number of overseas Vietnamese in Ukraine held a get together at National Aviation University on January 27 to celebrate the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.
In his opening speech, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tri reiterated the Vietnamese Party and State’s recognition of indispensability of the OV communities abroad to the Vietnamese nation.
Tri also voiced the embassy’s willingness to create favorable conditions for them to enjoy a stable life as well as achieve the best results in work and study.
Meanwhile the Vietnamese Students’ Association in Lyon, France gathered for a pre-Tet meeting aiming to create a Tet atmosphere for young Vietnamese who are away from home during Tet.
The event attracted 250 Vietnamese students, foreign friends and representatives from French associations.
Attendees had a chance to sample traditional Vietnamese cuisine including Chung cake (square-shape glutinous rice cake) and spring rolls made by Vietnamese students along with other delicacies and typical foods found on the Vietnamese Tet holiday menu.
A host of traditional activities including folk games and an exciting lion dance performance will also be held.
