OVs in East Europe compete in tennis tournament

(VOV) - One hundred thirty overseas Vietnamese took part in a friendly tennis tournament in Budapest, Hungary, on August 3-4 to celebrate Vietnam’s National Day (September 2).

They included 75 players from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Germany, and 55 from host Hungary.

Tennis Budapest Open 2013 saw players perform in men’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles, and categories for those under 45 years old.

Host Budapest won three first prizes in women’s doubles, mixed couples and U45 couples.

Players from Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Poland topped the list in men’s singles, U45 men’s singles, and men’s doubles, respectively.  

A culinary show was held during the two-day event, offering participants the chance to enjoy traditional Vietnamese dishes.

The annual tournament, the 11th of its kind this year, is a great sporting event of Overseas Vietnamese community in Hungary, aiming to promote solidarity and physical training within the community.
