The Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (COVA) on October 10 received a donation of VND184 million from overseas Vietnamese communities to victims of Typhoon Xangsane in central Vietnam.

This is not the first time overseas Vietnamese people have offered donations to people suffering from natural disasters in the homeland.

On behalf of overseas Vietnamese in the Czech Republic, vice chairman of the Association of Overseas Vietnamese in the Czech Republic Trinh Viet Dung said this is a regular activity of overseas Vietnamese showing that they always turn their minds towards fellow countrymen.

COVA deputy head Tran Quang Hoan stressed that the donation is of great significance as it helps connect Vietnamese nationals abroad to fellow countrymen back home.
