Ambassador Nguyen The Loc briefed the participants on the country’s socio-economic development and relations between Vietnam and Qatar in recent years, especially since a visit of the Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung to Qatar in March 2009.

The National Day is also a chance for the expat Vietnamese community there to partake in activities to mark the 40^th anniversary of implementing President Ho Chi Minh’s testament.

On the occasion, a liaison committee for Vietnamese in Qatar, which was established on August 7, made its debut. Nguyen Ngoc Do, head of the committee, talked about the committee’s tasks and activities in future.

A website for the Vietnamese community in Qatar was launched at www.vietnam-qatar.com to serve as a place for Vietnamese people in Qatar to meet and gain a better understanding of their homeland.
