Overseas Vietnamese gathered for a get-together at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Union in France (UGVF) on February 21 to celebrate Tet.

The event took place in a warm atmosphere in which participants wore traditional dress and enjoyed Vietnamese Tet dishes, such as square cake and porkpie. It provided an opportunity for Vietnamese nationals in France to meet and exchange best wishes for the New Year.

Ly Kieu Thu, a Vietnamese liing in France, said she attends the event every year. It has helped to strengthen solidarity among the Vietnamese community in France and encourage more contributions to the homeland, she added.

Le Van Chung, senior official of the UGVF, said he felt as if he was back in Vietnam where Vietnamese people were enjoying Tet.

The joyful atmosphere of Tet made a deep impression on French friends who attended the event. Bernard Peche said that he was very happy to celebrate Vietnamese Tet in France with his Vietnamese friends. This is a precious cultural value of Vietnam that needs to be preserved, he said.

Nguyen Van Trung, counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in France, outlined Vietnam’s remarkable achievements in recent years.

He then conveyed his best wishes to all Vietnamese nationals living abroad and called for more contributions by Overseas Vietnamese to their homeland.
