Though miles away from the homeland, the Vietnamese community in France has always paid attention to changes in Vietnam over the past 30 years. Vo Si Dan, President of the Association of Vietnamese living in France, granted an interview to VOV.

VOV:

You are a keen observer of changes in Vietnam and you have returned to the country many times. What are your feelings about its changes?

Vo Si Dan: Everyone, especially those having frequently returned to the country, can feel deeply its changes in all fields. Citizens’ living standards have been significantly raised in parallel with economic growth. Changes can also be found in Vietnam’s external economic relations and its modes of doing business. This success has resulted from the Vietnamese State’s endeavours to reform in line with the world’s mainstream developments.

Besides, many overseas Vietnamese (Viet kieu) care about the combat against negative practices. The State of Vietnam attaches great importance to the issue and has taken many strong measures to deal with it.

VOV: What do you think about policies laid down by the Vietnamese Government to lure more and more foreigners as well as Vietnamese people to invest in the country?

Vo Si Dan: I have seen much more liberty in Vietnam’s investment policies. The government has made great efforts to facilitate investors’ business. A good example is simplified administrative procedures.

The state has also bettered policies regarding Viet kieu. More and more overseas Vietnamese have been travelling back to their homeland. In general, Viet kieu have a good impression each time they go to Vietnam and they all want to return to the land. Vietnamese authorities, I think, should pay due attention to small projects and ways to attract investment in them.

VOV: Thank you very much!
