The Overseas Vietnamese community in the US closely followed the situation in their homeland. “I often keep track of the storm on the internet and consequent flooding, I hope people at home will do their best to overcome the aftermath and avoid any more deaths,” said Minh Vu, an Overseas Vietnamese from Maryland in the US.

Meanwhile, in San Jose City in California, Vietnamese students at the local University provided news updates on the floods. The Overseas Vietnamese students’ association there is planning a campaign to collect donations to assist Vietnamese people back home.

In the Ukraine, the Overseas Vietnamese community also kept track of tropical storm Ketsana via the internet.
