The overseas Vietnamese in Leipzig city, Germany gathered with local authorities and friends on February 18, the second day of the lunar new year. Bui Quan Huy, President of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Leipzig highlighted the Vietnamese community’s activities, especially efforts to teach Vietnamese language for younger Vietnamese generations and raise charitable funds to assist people back home.
On behalf of Leipzig's authorities, Tojan Gutschkow, an official in charge for aliens, affirmed that the city will further help Vietnamese nationals to have a stable life in Germany.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Tran Duc Mau expressed hope that the Overseas Vietnamese Association and the Vietnamese community will continue their good tradition of mutual assistance and make further contributions to the homeland.
On the occasion of the traditional Tet festival, Vietnamese Embassies in Cuba, Argentina, Mexico and Libya held meetings with overseas Vietnamese and Vietnamese people who are working and studying in these countries.
In Malaysia, more than 600 Vietnamese guest workers participated in a music festival, the first of its kind, jointly held by the Management Board for Vietnamese Workers and the Western Union company to welcome the Year of Pig.
These workers are working in textile and garments, electric and electronics, construction industries in Malaysia.
