Construction of the first private hospital for mothers and children invested by an overseas Vietnamese family in Laos started on March 6 in Vientiane.
Addressing the event, Laos’ Health Minister Ponmet Dalaloi spoke highly of the hospital’s significance, saying that the project not only creates favourable conditions for treatment but also helps reduce the mortality rate in Lao children. He expressed his hope that more private hospitals will be built in his country.
Covering an area of 12,550 sq.m, the seven-storey hospital will accommodate 120 beds, waiting rooms and basements equipped with modern facilities.
Construction of the US$3.8 million project, funded by the couple Dang Tien Thanh and Bien Thi Ki, is expected to be completed within 18 months.
