Twenty-seven young Viet kieu (overseas Vietnamese) from six countries and territories on August 2 laid flowers at President Ho Chi Minh’s Statue in downtown HCM City during the opening of a Viet kieu youth camp.

The four-day Ve nguon (Returning to the roots) camp is being held for the first time by the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and HCM City’s Youth Federation to help young people learn about the nation’s history as well as engaging in community activities. They will visit historical sites, join a history contest and play traditional games.

Deputy chairman of the city’s Youth Union Bui Ta Hoang Vu said the Viet kieu and local teens will also participate in the voluntary Green Summer Campaign and other charitable activities.
