The Overseas Vietnamese Association in Switzerland will become a reliable address for all Vietnamese expatriates and help connect the Vietnamese community, embassy and delegation to the UN and people in the homeland.
Ambassador Hoang Van Nha emphasized at a meeting in Bern on 24 to establish the association.
Nha said the establishment is a vital development step which meets overseas people’s wish to make the association a strong and prosperous community.
He expressed his hope that the association will protect and bring the benefits to the Vietnamese community in Switzerland and help people better integrate into the country.
It is expected to create a favourable environment for information exchange among its members and promote cooperation in different areas like economics, trade, investment, science-technology, education, tourism and culture services.
Vietnamese representatives from Switzerland’s cities adopted the association’s regulation and operation programme and elected the executive board for the 2010-2012 term.
