Over 80 press agencies to join National Press Festival 2025

More than 80 central and local press agencies will take part in the National Press Festival 2025, scheduled to run from June 19 - 21 at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi, the Vietnam Journalists Association (VJA) announced at a press briefing on June 16.

Themed “The Vietnamese press – Loyalty, creativity, mettle, innovation for national development and protection”, this year’s festival holds special significance as it celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - 2025).

According to Le My Ai Linh, Standing Deputy Head of the Festival Organising Committee, the event will feature nearly 130 exhibition booths, showcasing multi-platform journalistic products that reflect all sectors from politics and economy to culture, national defence, and diplomacy. Cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), 3D modeling, and virtual reality will be also highlighted.

A key feature of the festival is a thematic exhibition titled “100 years of the Vietnamese revolutionary press: Achievements and development trends in the new era”, presided over by the Vietnam Press Museum.

On the same occasion, the Ministry of Science and Technology will issue a commemorative stamp collection marking the centenary of the revolutionary press.

The second National Press Forum will also take place during the festival, offering 12 in-depth panel discussions on issues such as digital-era journalism, female leadership in newsrooms, strategies to engage younger audiences, AI integration, data journalism, and digital broadcasting.

The 19th National Press Awards - 2024 will be presented on June 21 at the Hanoi Indoor Athletics Arena and broadcast live on VTV2 and VOV2 channels. Out of 1,913 eligible entries, 128 outstanding works were selected for prizes after two rounds of judging, including 13 first prizes, 27 second prizes, 49 third prizes, and 39 consolation prizes.

For the first time, two new categories - multimedia journalism and creative journalism - are included in the awards.

Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice Chairman of the VJA and Head of the Preliminary Judging Panel, noted the remarkable quality of submissions in these categories, reflecting modern news production methods while maintaining standards in term of content.
