More than 1 million 12th graders across the country will sit their graduation exams between May 30 and June 1. In three days, they will take exams on literature, physics, history, chemistry, maths, and either foreign languages or geography.

The Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) said that this will be the first graduation exam held in response to the campaign “Saying ‘No’ to negative phenomena in exams and the pursuit of overachievement in education”. The ministry has set up inspection groups for the exam.

Aside from foreign languages, this is the first time that the physics and chemistry exams will be conducted with multiple-choice questions.

Dr Nguyen Duc Nghia, vice director of the Ho Chi Minh City National University and head of the MoET’s inspection group in Ho Chi Minh City, said on May 28 that 197 inspectors from the Agriculture University and HCM City National University’s colleges have been mobilized to the exam. They have been trained and will fulfil their tasks at 75 exam councils of the senior secondary graduation exam and 23 exam councils of the supplementary senior secondary graduation exam.
