This announcement was made at a press conference on January 26 in Hanoi.

The honourers will receive prizes, co-sponsored by the Vietnam Farmer Association, VTV’s News and Current Affair Department, the Rural Area Today Newspaper and the Viet Communication Joint Stock Company.

In 2009, more than 200 outstanding farmers were introduced on VTV’s breakfast programme and in the Rural Area Today Newspaper. The winners will be selected by a live audience and 34 of them will receive one of the 10 major prizes or one of two dozen secondary prizes.

The prize-giving ceremony will be broadcast live on VTV1 on the night of January 31.
