The Nguyen Khuyen private high school in Ho Chi Minh City has been shut down because at least one of its pupils has tested positive for the A/H1N1 virus while about 30 others have high fevers.

The infected pupil has contracted the flu from pupils of another high school, Ngo Thoi Nhiem, where 65 pupils and teachers have already caught the disease, said Dr Nguyen Van Chau, Director of the Municipal Health Department.

The department has ordered the Nguyen Khuyen school to set up a field hospital, the second of its kind in the southern hub, to quarantine and treat the infected pupils and give medical check-ups to other pupils.

The school, which has more than 2,000 pupils who come mainly from the Central Highlands and the Mekong Delta, has told its pupils to wear masks and avoid crowds to prevent infections.
