One more COVID-19 patient dies, tally now at 42

VOV.VN - The Health Ministry confirmed the 42nd death relating to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Hanoi on May 23, bringing the fatality count in the nation to 42.

The latest patient is a 72-year-old woman who has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and hypertension, according to the Ministry of Health.

She suffered symptoms like shortness of breath and coughing. She got admitted to Hanoi's National Hospital for Tropical Diseases on April 30 for COPD and hypertension.

She passed away May 22 night, and diagnosis of her death was due to pneumonia caused by COVID-19 and multiple organ failure.

Since the resurgence of the virus in Vietnam in late April, the country has recorded a total of 2,066 cases of local transmission across 30 cities and provinces, including seven fatalities.
