Not Alone campaign promotes safer online spaces for children, teenagers

VOV.VN - Under the Not Alone 2026 campaign, Vietnam is seeking to promote a safer digital environment for children and teenagers by equipping them with practical skills, encouraging open communication and fostering a supportive digital environment.

The information was unveiled by Lieutenant General Le Xuan Minh, director of the Ministry of Public Security’s Department of Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention (A05) at the opening ceremony of Online Safety Day at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square in Hanoi on October 31.

The event was organised by A05 and the Digital Trust Alliance in coordination with relevant partners as part of the second year of the “Not Alone” campaign. Held under the message “Connect Without Harm”, the campaign features activities designed to raise awareness, strengthen online safety skills and encourage cooperation among families, schools, authorities, social organisations and businesses.

In his remarks, Lieut. Gen. Minh noted that the internet offers children valuable opportunities to learn, explore, connect and express themselves, but they may lack the experience needed to recognise and respond to potential dangers.

He emphasised that online safety education should go beyond telling children not to share personal information or trust strangers. They also need to learn how to identify suspicious situations, establish personal boundaries, stop interactions that make them feel unsafe and turn to trusted people for help.

“Above all, we need to create a safe environment and a space of trust where children can speak about things they do not understand, share what worries them, and talk about their experiences even when they have made mistakes,” he said.

The campaign therefore highlights the role of families, schools and society not only in providing knowledge and warning children about risks, but also in building trust so that young people feel comfortable seeking help when they encounter difficulties online.

The initiative continues to receive support from several Vietnamese ministries, including the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as well as international organisations UNICEF and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

Through its “Connect Without Harm” message, the campaign aims to ensure that children and teenagers can learn, explore, build relationships and develop confidently in a safe and healthy digital environment where they are heard, respected and never left to face difficulties alone.
