Northern region forecasted to see warmer winter this year

The northern region of Vietnam has been predicted to experience a warmer winter this year, said an official from the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

Dr. Hoang Phuc Lam, deputy director from National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, said that the average temperature of the first 20 days of this month was higher than that of many previous years.
The temperature in Hanoi during the period was around 1.6 degrees centigrade higher than last year.
According to Lam, this year’s winter would be warmer than last year. December would be 1-1.5 degrees centigrade higher than last year, while the temperature rise for January and February would be 0.5-1 degree centigrade.
Meanwhile, for the southern region, the flooding season has reached the Mekong Delta region, but lower than the average level of previous years, Lam forecast.He also noted that the southern region would see salt instruction earlier than usual and the level would be equal to earlier years.
