No one hurt when tourist bus catches fire in Vietnam

VOV.VN - The driver and three tourists are safe after their bus erupted in flames yesterday afternoon (Apr. 13) on Highway 1 in the north-central province of Nghe An bordering Laos.

The driver noticed the fire after hearing a loud pop at around 5:30pm.

You hate to end a day like that, said the driver, but it turned out pretty well and I was able to safely evacuate all the passengers.

It sounded like a gunshot really, said the driver.

Shortly after everyone was off the bus, it burst into flames.

It took crews of three fire trucks about one hour to extinguish the blaze.

High flames. Black smoke. It was like a skeleton of a bus once we got it stomped out, said a fireman at the scene.

Local police are investigating the fire.

The bus driver handled it really well, said police officials. As soon as he realized there was a problem, he got the passengers off right away.
