Nine Vietnamese universities listed in Asia University Rankings 2025
VOV.VN - Nine Vietnamese universities have been named in the Asia University Rankings 2025, with University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City leading the national group in 136th place, according to the latest release by Times Higher Education (THE) on April 23.

Ton Duc Thang University came second among Vietnamese entries, placed in the 201–250 category. It was followed by Duy Tan University (251–300) and Hanoi Medical University (401–500).
Three more institutions–Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City Open University, and Vietnam National University, Hanoi, were all ranked in the 501–600 range.
Notably, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City overtook Ton Duc Thang University to become the highest-ranked Vietnamese university this year, securing 136th position.
Ho Chi Minh City Open University made a remarkable debut, entering the rankings for the first time in the 501–600 bracket. The remaining Vietnamese universities retained their positions from the previous year.
Times Higher Education is one of the three most reputable global university ranking systems, alongside QS and Shanghai Ranking. This year’s rankings assessed 853 institutions from 35 countries and territories in Asia, based on criteria including research, teaching, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.
Tsinghua University and Peking University of China continued to dominate the list, holding the top two spots for the sixth consecutive year.
