Most of the money will be used to repair the local infrastructures in the 12 central and central Highland provinces hit by the storm, they said at a meeting in Hanoi on October 6.
After the storm, which killed over 160 people and injured 630 others, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) and several NGOs sent representatives to the disaster-hit areas, said Don Tuan Phong, head of the VUFO People's Aid Coordinating Committee.
The VUFO also called on organisations to help people in the affected provinces overcome their difficulties and get back to normal, he added.
On October 5, the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos donated more than VND100 million to the victims.
On the same day, the Association of Vietnamese Students in China launched a campaign called “For our fellow citizens in the central region” to raise funds for the victims.
