NGO contributions to Vietnam's development highlighted

VOV.VN - Bui Thanh Son, Head of the Committee on Foreign Non-Government Organisations has praised the significant contributions by non-government organisations (NGOs) in Vietnam to alleviating poverty, dealing with social issues and boosting sustainable development.

In his remarks at a conference in Hanoi on December 26 to review the NGO aid mobilization in 2016 and devise tasks for 2017, Bui Thanh Son who is also Deputy Foreign Minister highlighted NGOs' efforts in joining hands with other relevant agencies to help spur national development.

Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Don Tuan Phong asked the committee to effectively implement solutions in the promotion programme on mobilizing NGO sponsorship during 2013-2017 period, suggesting the committee closely follow the Prime Minister’s instructions on the NGO-related affairs, ensuring transparency in financial activities next year.

During the reviewed period, NGOs continued deepening mutual understanding and expanding relationship between Vietnam and international organizations.
It is imperative for the committee to research, give advice to revising legal documents to make them clearer and consistent with the NGO affairs, he noted.
