New Year 2026 celebrations across localities nationwide
VOV.VN - As Vietnam rings in 2026, New Year celebrations take place across the country, with illuminated streets, festive activities and tens of thousands of residents and visitors gathering to capture New Year’s Eve moments.
Joining the nationwide celebrations, more than 50,000 residents and visitors in northern Quang Ninh province attend a large-scale countdown concert, enjoying live music and counting down to welcome 2026.
With fireworks lighting up the sky, residents and visitors sing along to familiar songs about Quang Ninh while counting down to the New Year. The concert, held at October 30 Square in Ha Long Ward, draws around 50,000 spectators, creating a lively New Year’s Eve scene.
The program brought together artists and singers from multiple generations, spanning lyrical music, light pop and contemporary styles. Popular songs wered presented with coordinated sound, lighting, visual and mapping effects, reflecting current musical trends while conveying an image of Quang Ninh as energetic and forward-looking.
At Hau River Park, New Year art performances and a countdown program attracted large numbers of residents and visitors. The event functioned as a cultural and entertainment activity, contributing to a joyful atmosphere as communities welcome the New Year.
The program was carefully staged with performances highlighting the cultural identity of the Mekong Delta, blending traditional elements with modern presentation. A colorful artistic setting, combined with modern sound and lighting systems, creates a visual highlight along the Hau River.
As the New Year approached, growing crowds gathered at Hung Vuong Square in northern Lang Son province, where the province hosted its first-ever countdown program combined with an artistic fireworks display.
The countdown program was held as part of activities under the Xu Lang Peach Blossom Festival and celebrations marking the Party and the Lunar New Year of Binh Ngo 2026. The event offered visitors an opportunity to watch fireworks light up the northern border region, accompanied by songs, folk music and dances performed by ethnic communities, conveying expectations for Lang Son’s development in the year ahead.
In addition, cultural exchange activities took place along Ky Lua pedestrian street and at several central locations across wards in Lang Son. Traditional Sli and Luon singing by Tay and Nung ethnic groups was performed at Ky Lua Market, Hoang Van Thu Monument and along Hung Vuong Street in Luong Van Tri Ward.
As a border province with strategic importance in northern Vietnam and active trade links with neighboring China, Lang Son also plans to welcome the first international visitors of 2026 through the Huu Nghi International Border Gate at the start of the year.
New Year 2026 celebrations took place across provinces nationwide, each with its own character yet sharing a common rhythm. Streets glowed with festive lights, and cultural and artistic activities were held in a safe and orderly manner, bringing moments of togetherness and renewal.
At the moment of transition, people across the country looked ahead to a peaceful year, improved economic conditions and stable livelihoods, placing their hopes in the path forward for their localities and for Vietnam as a whole.
