The Hanoi Science and Technology University which is jointly funded by the Vietnamese and French governments will open this September.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan said the US$242 million educational establishment will boost education standards in the country and symbolize the fine relations between Vietnam and France.
He said the university will cooperate with French counterparts in developing curriculums.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s decision issued last month stipulates that the university is one of the four public universities put under the direct management of the Ministry of Education and Training and is sponsored by the government.
Meanwhile, the French government has pledged to help Vietnam train staff, especially in the area of science and technology.
Deputy PM Nhan has asked the Ministry of Education and Training to appoint a French chancellor to head the university, located in Hanoi’s Hoa Lac high-tech zone.
