New localities record coronavirus infections over 12 hours
VOV.VN - A number of localities in Vietnam have recorded new coronavirus infections and are now awaiting confirmation from the Ministry of Health.
The southern province of Dong Nai held an emergency meeting late on May 4 after a local resident was diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The infected woman returned from Da Nang City, where she works at a bar, to Dong Nai by air on May 3.
Meanwhilke, the Hanoi Centre for Disease Control announced late on May 4 a doctor of National Hospital of Tropical Diseases has been infected with the virus. The doctor was said to travel and contact many people in various venues in at least five districts.
Relevant forces moved to cordon off his residence on Kim Ma street of Ba Dinh district and a karaoke bar on Lang street of Dong Da district.
The northern province of Hai Duong, the country’s biggest former coronavirus hotspot, also announced two coronavirus cases on May 4.
A soldier of Tu Ky district tested positive after boarding flight VN160 from Da Nang to Hanoi on April 29. Several infections, including two Chinese citizens, have been confirmed on the same flight.
Another man of Nam Dinh province returning from Japan and placed in quarantine at a hotel in Hai Duong also tested positive on May 4.
The Hai Duong Centre for Disease Control took the patients’ samples again and sent them to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology for confirmation.
If these cases are confirmed by the Ministry of Health, the virus has spread to nine cities and provinces in Vietnam since it recurred on April 28.
Earlier, coronavirus hotspots of Ha Nam and Vinh Phuc provinces recorded 14 and 15 cases respectively. Elsewhere Hanoi capital reported three cases, Da Nang and Hung Yen two cases each, Yen Bai and Ho Chi Minh City one case each.
