The Dutch government has decided to offer 30,000 tulips to Hanoi to decorate the city for its 1,000th anniversary celebrations in 2010, confirmed the Dutch Ambassador to Vietnam, Jozep Wileem Scheffes.

The ambbasador revealed this at a reception for Nguyen The Thao, Chairman of the Hanoi City People’s Committee to celebrate the start of his new mission in Vietnam.

Mr. Scheffes said he was impressed with the achievements Vietnam has made in recent years and hoped the two countries will develop their links in economics and trade with a focus on transferring agricultural processing technologies to ensure food safety and other areas of potential.

The Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, Nguyen The Thao, congratulated the ambassador on his new mission and expressed his sincere thanks to the Dutch government for its offer of 30,000 tulips to decorate the capital city on the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

Hanoi will always create the best possible conditions for Dutch businesses to invest in the capital city, said Mr. Thao.
